KVUE-TV CREATES CUTTING EDGE NEWSROOM
GRAPHICS WITH PIXEL POWER CLARITY 5000

Pompano Beach, FL, September 28, 2006…Pixel Power Inc. announced that KVUE-TV, Austin, TX, selected Pixel Power’s Clarity 5000 system for its newsroom graphics.

KVUE-TV is part of Belo Corp., which is one of the nation's largest media companies with a diversified group of market-leading television, newspaper, cable and interactive media. It is the market-leading news station in Central Texas. KVUE News won 9 out of 10 regional Edward R. Murrow awards in 2005, more than any other TV station in the country. KVUE also won 3 Emmy Awards, 26 awards from the Associated Press and three Texas Headliners Awards.

KVUE-TV required a still store product that would allow for the most advanced graphics and animation available, yet also have an interface that would allow it to work seamlessly with its live news environment. KVUE-TV chose the Clarity 5000 for its strong on-air control (Control Air), and its excellent integration into iNews made an attractive change in workflow for KVUE-TVs news graphics.

Clarity 5000 is the primary still store and animation source for all KVUE-TV newscasts. The seamless integration into iNews and the ability for news producers to ‘assemble’ simple graphics using available elements gives the News Department greater control over their product, while freeing the graphics staff to create more new material, not just daily news graphics. While the content creation workflow was drastically changed from previous methods, the learning curve for the KVUE-TV news producers and production staff was minimal.

It changed the entire workflow of news graphic development, gave back more control to the news producers, and allowed the graphics staff to work more on design and less one-shot, disposable graphics. “

The Clarity 5000 is Pixel Power’s entirely new hardware architecture to meet the next generation of graphics requirements encompassing standard and high definition formats. Building upon the knowledge of the existing Clarity range, Clarity 5000 takes HD graphics to the next level, with graphics capabilities beyond that of current state of the art SD graphics systems. Clarity 5000 runs the latest Clarity Version 7 software, which includes clip capability, perspective DVE, timeline animation and real-time 3D options.
