PIXEL POWER ANNOUNCES SIGNIFICANT UPTAKE OF CLARITY
BY GERMAN BROADCASTERS
WDR, RTL2, Vox and HR All Choose Clarity Graphics Systems
Stand 7.138, IBC2005, Amsterdam, 9 September 2005:
Pixel Power today announced significant uptake of Clarity character
generator systems in Germany. In partnership with their local distributor,
SHM (www.shm-broadcast.de), multiple unit sales have been made to
WDR, RTL2, Vox, CBC and HR in the past few months.
After extensive evaluation of competitive systems WDR, Cologne,
are purchasing a total of 48 Clarity 500 systems by the end of 2006.
The first 20 systems have already been delivered. WDR chose Clarity
because it has an easy to use high quality character generator feature
set supplemented by video clips, DVEs and an upgrade path to High
Definition. The quality and smoothness of the animation effects
and Pixel Power’s willingness to work with WDR to further
enhance the product were key factors in the purchase decision.
Hessischer Rundfunk in Frankfurt plan to purchase Clarity character
generator and still store systems for News, Sports and mobile production.
Key factors in their decision were the ease of integration with
their MOS newsroom and automation via TCP/IP network. They evaluated
this capability thoroughly by including a mock newscast with full
control room crew and live talent as part of the competitive demonstration
process, before choosing Clarity.
CBC in Cologne have also purchased Clarity systems for the master
control playout of RTL2 and Vox. The systems are under automation
control and supply interstitials, including audio voice-overs, squeezebacks
and Now/Next program information. CBC were particularly impressed
with the audio capabilities and the provision of redundant power
supplies and watchdog bypass, essential for a device placed in the
program video stream.
Jürgen Helscher, Managing Director of SHM Broadcast, said
“Our many years experience of the German CG market combined
with the excellent Pixel Power product line enabled us to win this
business in a competitive environment. We look forward to continued
growth of our joint businesses in Germany”.
James Gilbert, CEO of Pixel Power Inc, affirmed, “Our close
cooperation with SHM and commitment to delivering quality character
generation products is paying off. Together we will continue to
build strong relationships with the major German broadcasters to
become the CG of choice in Germany”.
