Booth SU6820, NAB2007, Las Vegas, 16 April: Pixel Power is to bring its innovative ‘newsroom in a box’ concept to NAB2007, demonstrating graphics integration with the Electronic News Production System (ENPS) v5 newsroom solution. The graphics leader is also to reveal enhanced Clarity Control Toolbox data controls with tools to import data from sources including RSS and XML.

Newsroom in a Box

Newsroom in a Box consolidates various broadcast systems eliminating the cost and workflow complexity of a separate clip player, production switcher, DVE and audio mixer.

ENPS v5 Integration

The company will also announce integration of its Clarity family of character generators with ENPS v5 to offer graphics previews in the timeline for the first time. The collaborative project with the Associated Press’s Broadcast Technology division also includes a new script media pane that enables journalists to instantly see all graphics associated with a story.

Clarity Control Toolbox

Meanwhile, Pixel Power’s Clarity Control Toolbox’s data-gathering tools support RSS feeds and XML data to ease integration of data sources and automatically update on-air graphics such as stock tickers and live games programmes. Clarity Control Toolbox is a simple development environment for creating real-time custom data entry and control programs for Clarity graphics systems. Clarity supports multiple simultaneous connections allowing for data entry and playout control from several locations at the same time.

“The march to automating the whole news production process – including the studio – continues,” says Pixel Power MD James Gilbert. “Broadcasters are considering whether they actually need operator-driven devices that can realistically be replaced by functionality within a graphics device, linked closely to the newsroom system using the standard MOS protocol.”

Pixel Power is exhibiting its full product range at NAB2007 on booth SU6820.
