PIXEL POWER ANNOUNCES REAL-TIME 3D CAPABILITY FOR CLARITY CHARACTER GENERATOR
FAMILY
Version 7 Software includes real-time 3D and perspective DVE
April 18, 2005, NAB, Booth SU7132…
Pixel Power Ltd. (www.pixelpower.com), Cambridge, England, today announced the availability
of Clarity Version 7 software which offers significant feature enhancements for the Clarity
character generator family.
The new real-time 3D capability is available as an option on most Clarity systems. 3D objects
and animation sequences are prepared offline using industry standard Autodesk 3DS Max software.
Models can contain any level of surface complexity, including transparency, and the final
animations are exported to Clarity as RPF image sequences.
Most Clarity objects, including animated text, cell animations, images and clocks, can
be added to the surfaces of the 3D animation by using the Clarity Surface Picker. Alternatively,
Clarity can "search" and display the best view of a surface allowing users to
drag and drop graphic layers directly onto the surface. Graphic layers can be scaled, rotated
and positioned within the surface with dynamic, real-time display. The 3D animations then
play out in real time with live mapping of dynamic content onto the 3D object surfaces.
Applications include 3D scoreboards, elections, dynamic map displays, interactive television,
channel branding and any graphics display which requires the additional impact of real time
3D animation.
Version 7 software also offers 2 ½ D perspective on foreground objects, including
live squeezebacks. Object layers can be rotated on 3 axes with control of perspective and
vanishing point. Other new features include timeline based editing and custom keyframe animation
moves. All Clarity systems are supplied with the Windows XP Professional operating system
and a new user interface simplifies access to the sophisticated feature set.
James Gilbert, CEO of Pixel Power Inc, states, “This significant software release
brings real-time 3D capabilities to the Clarity family, both live mapping onto 3D objects
and perspective squeezeback. We’ve also moved to Windows XP and created a new user
interface which makes Clarity even easier to use, whether in graphics production or live
event work”.
