Driving Brand Graphics at Transmission Point Enables Efficient Differentiation of Unique Channels

April 20, 2009. BURBANK, Calif.- Pixel Power, a leading provider of broadcast graphics systems, today announced that four channels of BrandMasterTM, its new Branding SwitcherTM, have been installed in the upgrade of the new master control facility of the Prime Television Network. The world’s first deployment of BrandMaster is enabling Prime TV to precisely control the unique branding of the channels it distributes to commercial markets from its centralized Digital Broadcast Center.

“One of Prime TV’s main objectives with its new facility is to enhance the independent brand image of each channel we deliver, making them more attractive to specific audiences and more targeted for our advertisers,” said Lyndon Cox, Network Project Manager, Prime TV. “BrandMaster offers a new way of thinking. Typical master control switchers make graphics a secondary consideration and charge a premium for the option. Our switcher demands aren’t complex, but branding drives our business. BrandMaster gives us the graphics flexibility we need to support very sophisticated branding looks and puts them inline with the stream where they belong.”

The four new channels were commissioned in February and went on air shortly afterwards. The second phase of the project is now moving ahead, with a new purchase order just placed for an additional seven channels.

The BrandMaster branding switcher puts advanced broadcast graphics directly at the point of transmission to reduce the complexity of the signal path and to streamline the channel branding process. By replacing a traditional master control switcher with a Branding Switcher, Prime TV was able to eliminate its need for a separate pool of graphics resources while increasing its ability to inject a carefully tuned brand image on a per channel basis. This solution has the added benefit of significantly reducing the amount of equipment, power consumption, and total cost required to deliver a uniquely branded broadcast channel.BrandMaster

BrandMaster supports a wide range of branding requirements for both standard and high definition channels including multi-layer static and animated logos, clocks, text crawls, multiple tickers, DVE moves such as squeezeback, automated schedules, EAS and many other graphics elements. Full audio handling is included for multichannel sound with shuffling and voiceover capabilities. It also seamlessly integrates with all leading automation systems. BrandMaster utilizes an upstream router for crosspoint switching and offers full support for major routing control protocols to work with local master control routers or busses on the main station router.

BrandMaster is available immediately. For more information about functionality and configurations, click here.
